How the Beauty & Personal Care Center services our customers and suppliers

Our primary goals for this Innovation & Application Center is to develop starting formulas for the skin care, hair care, and cosmetic markets while assisting customers with existing formulas or the development of new formulas.
We offer a wide range of lab capabilities, including:
  • application assistance
  • formulation advice
  • raw material and ingredient recommendations
  • starting point formulas

Safety and technical standards at the forefront of our formulations

Given the ubiquitous nature of cosmetic products today, safety and technical standards are an increasingly important issue for the industry. Our Personal Care team works closely with suppliers to ensure ingredients are safe and reliable, and our supply-chain is completely transparent.
Personal Care industry chemicals have always been under scrutiny by organizations and environmental safety groups. While we applaud community efforts to maintain strong safety standards in Personal Care chemical distribution and use, we understand it can cause concern for those in the industry. You don’t want an innocent mistake to bring about costly fines or unwanted media attention. Our commitment to safety and to understanding industry safety requirements and standards is yet another major benefit of partnering with us.

Meet Terri Winters

Senior chemist for the Personal Care industry

Terri has over 20 years experience in the Personal Care industry and has been with Brenntag Specialties since 2017. She has formulated for the skin care, hair care and color cosmetic markets. As a member of the Personal Care Research and Development team, she develops prototypes highlighting our materials and provides technical support both within our organization and to external customers.

Over 100 Personal Care formulations

Each year, the Personal Care lab debuts new hair care, skin care, and cosmetic prototypes. These prototypes serve to showcase trends in the Personal Care market, as well as unique uses for ingredients.
The prototypes contain:
  • finished starter formulas that highlight ingredients from all of our supplier
  • formulary cards for each prototype
Note: Prototypes undergo stability testing at 40oC for a period of three months.These prototypes are also intended for use as starting formulas only and may be altered or modified as needed.
